Nancy Pelosi took the stupid step of rescinding her ceremonial invitation for president Donald Trump to give his constitutionally mandated State of the Union address in the House of Representatives on January 29. Ceremonial because the constitution gives Donald Trump, as president, the power to convene both or either chamber of Congress when he sees fit and deliver the State of the Union however he wants. It’s not her call. Nancy Pelosi is usurping the constitution.

“He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper…”

Article II, Section III, US Constitution

Besides her ignorance of Constitutional law and customs, Speaker Pelosi also has some troubling problems with basic mathematics. The executive, judicial, and legislative branches all form coequal parts of the US government. The legislative branch, of which Nancy Pelosi is a US Representative (D-California), has two chambers, the House of Representatives and the Senate. There are 435 US Representatives. Nancy Pelosi (D-California) is 1/435 of 1/2 equal to the president.

President Trump delivers his 2018 State of the Union Address

But for some reason (senility), being Speaker makes Nasty Nancy think that she won some alternate reality presidential election and is now the second president of the United States. She’s still just a US Representative. President Donald Trump was constitutionally elected by the electoral college and requisite state-wide popular votes, vesting in him the sole executive authority of the United States government. Nancy Pelosi was elected speaker of the House of Representatives by her fellow US Representatives (Trump encouraged her speakership because he knew she would be easy to embarrass and agitate), but being speaker doesn’t make her any closer in power to the president (while he’s still alive). As an aside, how many times has Pelosi called Trump president Bush so far in the last two years – 5? She’s lost her mind. Say it with me folks: Term limits.

It’s worth talking about the lame excuse she gave for her childish fit: She said that the State of the Union could not proceed as planned due to security concerns. The DHS and Secret Service have since both stated that Nancy Pelosi’s office did not call either of them before making her comment. According to those same officials with actual knowledge and sanity, the SOTU is fully planned (months in advance) and federal personnel are ready for their deployment to the detail. She’s a liar.

The USSS is ready to work with a collection of other agencies to secure the State of the Union address

The real reason Speaker Pelosi and the Democrat machine doesn’t want Trump to give the State of the Union is because they would be forced to listen to him talk about how bad things really are down south: The constant flood of illegal immigrants, drugs, children dragged across deserts, terrorists blocked, and how easy it would be to fix everything with an effective, well-priced wall. They don’t want to have to listen to that presentation, and more importantly, they don’t want America to hear it. It would make too much sense. So far, the Democrats have managed to place the responsibility for the shutdown on Trump thanks to their partners in the mainstream media. However, the longer the shutdown continues, the more support Trump and the wall gets, according to polls.

Another big worry for Democrats is Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s health. I wrote about her situation a week ago. SCOTUS has said that she’d need another week of rest to return to work, and that was a week ago. She’s still not back on the bench. The situation may have very well deteriorated and the Democrats may not want to bring national attention to it. RBG’s absence from the SOTU would be noticed.

The inspiring story of Ji Seong-ho, a North Korean defector, was told to the nation during the last State of the Union. It was a remarkably powerful moment

Trump’s State of the Union guests are guaranteed to further humiliate Democrats. It’s assured that he’ll invite “angel families,” those who’ve had a family member killed by an illegal alien, and place them front row for the speech. He’ll probably even mention them by name and tell their stories. An effective communicator knows how to make their audience personally relate to the point they’re making. The tragedies “angel families” have witnessed could be a powerful tool for the president to put things into perspective for Americans.

No matter what Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) thinks or says, the ultimate decision regarding the State of the Union address rests with president Trump. The constitution mandates that he address the Congress, and that he does it when and where he chooses. No one can defer that mandate.
