Is Luke Harper on the verge of a WWE Main Event Push?

Looking at the current climate of wrestling, I thought I’d take the time out of my empty schedule to talk about something that makes me wonder. No point in beating around the bush, but right now Smackdown Live is the hottest wrestling available. Why is that? Well, read on.

Currently we have a brilliant champion in the form of Bray Wyatt. The chants of “you deserve it” on the Tuesday night after he won the title was amazing. As for the number one contender, well, that’s Bray Wyatt’s ally Randy Orton. He stated he won’t be facing Wyatt at Wrestlemania. But, of course, he will be. That leads me to believe that Luke Harper will be thrown into the match too.

Harper is currently a face on Smackdown, teaming with John Cena to take on both Wyatt and Orton. That was just one match though. We’re now looking at the former Wyatt family member taking on both Wyatt and Orton. But that is just what I think will happen.

What else can they really do? When Orton stated he was not going to face Wyatt, you could tell it was the build up for a feud. Still, it was a pretty good build up. With the inclusion of Luke Harper I’m pretty sure we can get a good feud rolling and a great run.

If Orton, Wyatt and Harper face each other at Wrestlemania, Wyatt should win. He’s a brilliant champion, the crowd is behind him and he deserves it. Much like Kevin Owens, he needs a lengthy run with the belt to really make an impact. Other than that though, Harper should eventually win the title also.

Harper is a talented wrestler, he’s a big guy but he can move like some of the luchadores in the company. He’s already had a great run with the Intercontinental Championship but from then he hasn’t done anything else. Now is definitely the time to give him the belt. Well, not now, but sooner or later he’ll end up with the belt.

Hopefully this will lead us to a great Wrestlemania match between Orton, Harper and Wyatt. But what I haven’t done just yet is answered the question I brought up in this article, does he deserve a main event push? Right now, yes. The only problem with giving him a main event push on Smackdown Live is that there are too many “over” wrestlers.

Lets just have a look at the roster and we’ll name a couple of the wrestlers I would consider “over”.

  • The Miz
  • Bray Wyatt
  • Luke Harper
  • AJ Styles
  • Randy Orton
  • John Cena
  • Dean Ambrose
  • Baron Corbin
  • Dolph Ziggler

And so on and so forth. There are a lot of deserving guys on this list. It could be argued that it’s now Harper’s turn, but there are a couple of people there that have yet to get their main event push too. Baron Corbin is my prediction for the next main event push. Give Harper, Wyatt and Orton some time to feud over the belt, and then in comes Corbin. As for Dolph, he was dropped from the main event to the midcard and now just fumbles about with the lower card. It’s a shame really, he could really do with a championship run.

Anyways, regardless of everyone else, how would Luke Harper do as WWE Champion? Very well is my guess. It doesn’t need to be much more than that really, does it? In my opinion, he’s going to receive the same, warm reception that Bray Wyatt and Kevin Owens received.

Actually, just as I’m publishing this article, Luke Harper is taking on AJ Styles. That match is one of the very few that are unpredictable. Hopefully it ends clean, instead of Wyatt interfering or something similar to this.
